Random Heart Beats are mini objects made of parchment. 24K gold and silver plated sheets of parchment are connected with amber beads and pellet of wild hares strung on sewing thread. The parchment is produced using an authorial technique from pig bladder.
I discovered this material while exploring historic organic toys. My parents, who come from farming culture, told me about pig bladder balloons filled with dried peas. Today pig bladders are almost no longer used in Lithuania – they can still occasionally be found in some meat products, and more rarely in musical instruments. In slaughterhouses today they are most often classified as animal by-products, from where I collect them.
In jewellery art, when creating objects, scale also responds to emotional charge. With these mini objects I emphasize this particularly, because their small scale allows them to be perceived like a brief, fragile heartbeat.
